JLL’s Project & Development Services (“PDS”) group is seeking a Practice Leader for our Hotels & Hospitality (H+H) service line based in Toronto. Our Canadian H+H team has an enviable portfolio of marquee projects across Canada, with an extensive network of H+H professionals across the Americas.

Collaborating with clients, hotel operators, and professionals and relying upon her/his experience and relationships, the selected candidate will lead our H+H team to successfully deliver projects, pursue new business opportunities, and grow our H+H practice across Canada. The individual will be fully accountable for the practice’s P&L and require independent judgment to proactively plan, prioritize, and organize a diverse team and workload in a fast-paced environment.


A recognized leader within the H+H industry, candidates will be responsible for:

Relationships – collaborate with industry, clients, and Canadian/US JLL peers.

  • Cultivating new and existing business relationships.
  • Collaborating with JLL peers, regional and other practice leads, and SMEs to leverage JLL’s vertically integrated real estate services platform.
  • Working with owners, landlords, developers, architects, engineers, and/or contractors.
  • Building rapport with key client representatives and soliciting feedback on our PM performance.
  • Assisting clients in the development of creative real estate strategies linked to their business objectives.
  • Within the H+H practice area, act as the highest point of escalation capable of tactfully resolving potential issues.

Growth – strategize, market, and pursue practice-related opportunities with others.

  • Developing and executing the practice growth and marketing plan.
  • Working with JLL's leadership to ensure qualified resources are available for the practice growth strategy.
  • Strategically networking, sourcing business leads, and representing JLL at industry events.
  • Positioning JLL as a leader in H+H project management.
  • Leading the pursuit strategy, identifying, positioning, pitching, and securing of new business.

Team Management – support, empower and lead others to grow your region.

  • Energizing, supervising, training, mentoring, and evaluating your team.
  • Attracting top talent, conveying expectations, and negotiating offers of employments and contracts.
  • Balancing resources and assigning work to maintain high levels of project billability.
  • Educating your team of JLL and H+H expectations, policies, best practices, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Fostering an environment of accountability, excellence, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Making tough decisions in the best interest of your team’s future success.

Project/Commercial Management – lead, advise, and/or oversee proposals, negotiations, partnering, and project execution – being each client’s highest level of contact and escalation.

  • Negotiating and executing complex contracts before commencing project work.
  • Staffing, stabilizing, and overseeing larger, more complex programs and projects.
  • Developing project delivery and contracting strategies, risks, budgets, schedules, and processes.
  • Establishing, maintaining and meeting project goals and criteria to satisfy client expectations.
  • Actively troubleshooting, problem solving and tracking key project performance indicators.
  • Ensuring projects are completed within scope, schedule, budget, and the client’s changing needs.

Operational/Financial Management – ensure the practice team achieves P&L financial and growth targets.

  • Developing growth strategies and annual business plan.
  • Actively managing practice P&L – GR, NR, GM, OI, staff utilization and DSO – to achieve or exceed targets.
  • Monitoring and updating backlog.
  • Forecasting resource needs, PDS growth and financial direction, and economic trends.
  • Taking calculated risks aligned to strategic plans and operational targets.
  • Achieving positive results and meeting annual growth targets.
  • Fully and accurately informing the PDS EVP of all project, internal, and client issues affecting PDS’ operational targets and JLL‘s reputation.


  • Well recognized leader with 15+ years of senior level experience, with primary focus in the Hotels and Hospitality industry.
  • Extensive hands on approach with H+H renovation and new build projects including public space and guest room renovations, repositioning projects and restaurants, and furniture and space planning.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with senior executives.
  • Architecture, Interior Design, or similarly applicable degree.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills and financial acumen.
  • Flexibility with work hours and travel, as needed.
