The National Marketing Director is responsible for leading all marketing activities to build the brand/reputation for JLL across Canada – as well as provide a critical role in helping enhance JLL’s differentiation and competitiveness at the point of sales. The individual in this role will manage a team of 6 professionals and work closely with both the CEO/COO of Canada, as well as work in an integrated fashion with the CMO of the Americas and other Americas business line marketing leaders.  Included in the role will be everything from brand activation to content management/marketing to sales tool development to client-centric and account based marketing initiatives to sales enablement and loyalty building. Individual should also have experience with M&A and an understanding/awareness of public relations and media relations.


Key Elements and Essential Tasks

  • Lead the annual marketing planning process and plan development
  • Create process to find points of integration and alignment by driving collaboration on tools such as editorial, event, campaign and content calendars; yearly marketing plans; budget system practices; metric reporting and analysis; integration of global marketing efforts and implementation of best practices.
  • Develop marketing communications strategy to ensure all internal stakeholders are armed with information that creates opportunities to sell and differentiate us from the competition.
  • Participate in pitches and proposals as required by the business teams.
  • On-going support of business development efforts, which includes: sales, pitch and presentation support and assistance leading targeted customer campaigns (e-mail, social media and on-line initiatives).
  • Maintain knowledge of our competitive and client intelligence to develop an appropriate competitive positioning strategy and drive consistency of messaging in the marketplace.
  • Partner with Research to deliver strong thought leadership and transform analytical information into client-friendly and consumable content.
  • Design and implement marketing programs that drive sales and include messaging, competitive analysis, content marketing, events, sponsorships, direct marketing, digital campaigns and account-based marketing. 
  • Acts an integrator of broad campaigns crossing multiple business lines to ensure optimal impact of JLL marketing efforts. Responsible for championing joint efforts between all business lines with regards to event, sponsorship, advertising, PR, promotion and other program marketing spend.
  • Direct, guide, evaluate, and mentor marketing personnel; manage direct reports responsible for specific marketing disciplines; hiring and training of team members.
  • Create process structures to elevate both strategic and tactical work executed by the marketing team while driving collaboration on tools such as editorial, event, campaign and content calendars; yearly marketing
  • plans; budget system practices; metric reporting and analysis; integration of national marketing efforts and implementation of best practices.
  • Enable the marketing function to innovate through the use of new technologies
  • Manage the marketing budget and review business unit marketing spend to ensure programs are consistent and dollars are spent wisely; develop ROI metrics.
  • Define key performance metrics; monitor, measure and communicate results of marketing and communication tactics via dashboard.
  • Go-To-Market Strategy:  using research, create and implement campaigns that create a presence in the market and drive business results.
  • Operational Rigor:  bring discipline, thoroughness and consistency to marketing processes
  • Any and all other duties and tasks assigned.


  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing and Communications
  • Minimum 10-12 years of professional experience in a multi-client agency or corporate environment with multiple internal client. Experience in a commercial brokerage or B2B professional services firm would be an asset
  • Minimum four years managing a team; strong leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing
  • Strong executive presence
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Proficiency in digital marketing and social media strategies; phroven success with search engine optimization
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current design methodologies and business to business marketing trends
  • Ability to work independently and under deadline pressure in mentoring a team and a broad range of projects simultaneously
  • Ability to study industry trends in visual communications and develop creative, innovative ideas to meet JLL’s aggressive new business and deal completion goals
  • Team-oriented attitude and ability to contribute to design and functionality-related marketing decisions
  • Enjoys learning and is adaptable, entrepreneurial and fast moving
