Role Purpose

The Porter/Fabric Operative reports to the fabric supervisor and is responsible carrying out painting/decorating tasks as assigned.

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 20:00 – 07:00

What this job involves

Responsibilities:

  • To carry out daily planned painting operations within the building.
  • To work ensuring all equipment and store rooms are kept clean, well maintained and are in a safe working order.
  • To move furniture and arrange areas for a safe working environment.
  • To be aware of material expenditure and avoid unnecessary waste.
  • To report any maintenance defects to the helpdesk/supervisor.
  • To ensure that a high standard of personal hygiene is maintained.  Pay particular attention to hands/finger nails, hair care and general appearance.
  • Out of hours and weekend working may be required from time to time as business needs dictate
  • To observe all Company and Client stator fire and safety regulations and to promote good safety habits and methods of work.
  • To deal with any complaints that fall within job holder’s duties and report these immediately to the Fabric Supervisor.
  • To perform miscellaneous duties which are within the job holder’s capability according to the needs of the business or as instructed by the FM Team.

Environmental, Health & Safety:

  •  Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.
  • Report Good catches/Near Misses.
  • To wear protective clothing (PPE) as issued.

  • Handyman skills, painting, tilling, carpentry, computer skills, can do attitude
  • Full driving licence
  • Must be extremely organised and able to prioritise a demanding workload.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Confident personality, able to deal with diverse population and situations.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Able to work on their own initiative.
  • Good verbal communication skills. Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills.
  • Customer focused.
  • Multi-skilled tradesman used to working in a commercial, office environment.
  • Practical experience and a working knowledge in all aspects of building maintenance.
