TITLE: Above Ceiling Inspector (Grade II) Union Role                                             DEPARTMENT: Compliance

General Summary: The Above Ceiling Inspector main responsibilities will be the inspection of rated walls, repair of wall penetrations, inspections of above ceiling areas to ensure compliance with current building codes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following depicts the job tasks that can be performed as well as those derived

Perform daily rounding.

Inspections and correction of above ceiling areas

Repair of wall penetrations including the application of fire caulking.

Generating reports and inventory spreadsheets

Assisting Compliance Department on surveys

Updating of Life Safety Drawings

Assisting Compliance Department with paperwork, barcoding and monitoring contractor testing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The Above Ceiling Inspector Grade 2 must meet or exceed the requirements as described.

Requirements:                       High School diploma or GED

                                                 Certified in the use of fire caulking

                                                 Passing of Compliance Department test (basic safety questions concerning NFPA 101 and rated enclosures, code compliance and work safety)

Knowledge:                            Knowledge of NFPA 101

                                                 Knowledge of current building codes

                                                 Knowledge of HVAC Systems

                                                 Knowledge of Sprinkler Systems

                                                 Knowledge of basic electrical systems

                                                 Basic Microsoft Word

                                                 Basic Microsoft Excel

Skills:                                      Able to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and instructions as necessary to complete all work assignments.

                                                Has a working knowledge of the federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations applicable to this trade.

                                                Has a working knowledge of computers.

Abilities:                                  Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in performance of a job assignment as well possesses the physical strength and dexterity to effectively perform work assignments

Tools:                                      Owns a complete set of hand tools necessary for the trade.
