Role Purpose

The Global Data Manager will lead analysis of global energy, waste & water data for an international account, in addition to supporting global energy programs and projects, integral to the reporting and analysis of sustainability performance. This position requires the maintenance of a database comprised of 6,000+ ECM projects and web-based dashboards with hundreds of monthly views.

The Global Data Manager will be responsible for supporting a global team of 5 energy & sustainability professionals and influencing a network Energy Champions. The Global Data Manager will manage a team of analysts and global vendor responsible for the collection of utility data across 40+ countries, 4,000+ buildings and 10,000+ utility accounts, totalling over $200 Mil/yr in energy spend

What this job involves

  • Manage international team of 3 analysts, accountable for their hiring, performance review, and professional development.
  • Support a team of energy & sustainability professionals and influence a network of energy champions.
  • Create an effective and consistent energy data management strategy for the client across all existing and proposed energy tools and databases.
  • Manage global utility bill vendor, ensure service delivery.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain Global Energy Savings Tracker tool, Energy cost & consumption reporting, Water cost & consumption reporting, Waste volume arising (by waste stream) reporting and other relevant sustainability reporting tools as required by the client and sanctioned by the account.
  • Product Owner of energy & sustainability Tableau dashboards to help account track and report annual energy and sustainability performance metrics.
  • Escalate issues to account leadership that have a critical impact on delivering the energy & sustainability program in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accuracy of all energy & sustainability performance data presented on Tableau Dashboards.
  • Provide guidance and program roadmaps to country teams to standardize delivery of global energy & sustainability programs.
  • Collaborate with sourcing to establish required data structure and performance KPIs for account waste haulers in support of client’s waste and recycling goals.

  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyse and present complex data sets using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and Tableau
  • Aptitude in ECM calculations
  • Knowledge of utility tariffs and energy market dynamics
  • Knowledge of new and emerging trends in the area of energy efficiency
  • Knowledge of general database architectures and other IT systems
  • Knowledge of industry-leading best practices in large portfolio waste and recycling management
  • Expertise in facility operations, focused on best practices in energy conservation, including no cost, low cost, and capital ECMs
  • Experience in guaranteed energy performance contracting and measurement and verification methodologies.
  • Expertise in product management, specifically Web-based reporting tools and dashboards
  • Experience managing remote team of analysts
  • Experience managing global vendors
  • Experience analysing and presenting utility/energy information
  • Experience participating in energy audits
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a numerate subject (applied sciences, engineering, mathematics, etc…)
