TITLE

Electrical Quantity Surveyor

BUSINESS UNIT

Project & Development Services (PDS)

REPORTING TO

Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS Manager)

NUMBER OF SUBORDINATES

None at the moment

Could have 1 subordinate depending on Project size

and complexity

POSITION GOALS

The Electrical Quantity Surveyor is responsible for all aspects of the daily QS works with due regards to preparation and finalization of detailed budget cost estimate. He / She will coordinate with the Client, Consultants, Contractors and other Trades involved in the Project to ensure that the Project will be completed within the agreed budget.  He / She will support the QS Manager and/or Project Managers on all QS duties for the assigned Project. He / She will also manage Assistant Quantity Surveyor and ensure that tasks delegated to them are completed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare initial and detailed Project Cost Estimates
  • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities
  • Prepare pre-bid estimates of Project
  • Analyse Bids received;
  • Manage Costs during the Project execution
  • Perform Risk and Value Management and Cost Control
  • Give advice on Procurement Strategy
  • Provide advice on Contractual Claims
  • Valuing Completed Work and recommend Payment
  • Review Purchase Order Claims and Contracts for conformance to Project Policy
  • Review and manage Contractual obligations of the Parties
  • Provide pricing support as needed
  • Drive cost savings and cost avoidance whenever possible
  • Attend and participate in Project meetings
  • Prepare final accounts and project close-out cost report
  • Other duties that may be assigned as deemed appropriate for the Quantity Surveyor position


KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Strong knowledge in Budget Estimate, Cost Estimate Report, BOQ and Cost Report Preparation
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both orally and in writing, including preparation of  business letter and reports
  • Project delivery within budget
  • Good relationship with the Client
  • Good relationship with colleagues and other Project Team Members

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS



KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 6 years relevant QS/Cost Engineering/Estimating
  • Board Passer with Professional License
  • Previous experience in Interior Fitout or New Build construction is preferred
  • Above average supervisory skills
  • Strong organisational skills and analytical ability required
  • General knowledge of Electrical, Electronics & Auxiliary works
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS-Office Applications
  • Background in Blue Beam Revu Software an advantage
  • Completely fluent in English, and a local language is desirable
