Job Description

What this job involves:

Being the bearer of engineering best practices

Do you relish the idea of managing a variety of projects? This role requires someone who can efficiently and effectively oversee our delivery of operational and engineering services for not just one, but two different sites of one of our key financial institution clients. We’re talking about data centres with a combined total area of 128,000 square metres, more than 3,000 equipment cabinets, 3,700 occupants, and staff of over 70 members!

With such a lot at stake, you must have the ability to carry out and follow through on procedures that are vital in critical environments and general building services engineering (e.g., critical equipment maintenance and upkeep). When you do site reviews, you’ll keep a lookout for opportunities to develop, innovate, and share within the global engineering teams programmes that not only reduce costs, but also increase productivity. Spotting developments in international best practices and figuring out how to apply them locally is a constant, yet rewarding, challenge. This role also puts you in a unique position to promote our sustainability service strategies for achieving measurable improvements in energy use.

Bridging gaps in processes and controls

As a Subject Matter Expert, you’ll contribute to the optimisation of processes, tools and documentation. At the front of your mind at all times is completion and compliance of the critical environment management (CEM) audit process. Keeping planned preventive maintenance programmes and service contracts in place and the work practices of contractors in check are also your mandate.

‘Safety first’ is your strapline and you’ll do this by maintaining safety procedures, including crisis management or business continuity and emergency procedures at all times. Getting our site teams on board our risk management and mitigation initiatives will also fall on your shoulders.

Leading and growing our engineering teams

In this role, you’ll manage our teams of engineering and facility management experts, ensuring that members have the skills, direction and information they need to level up their know-how in delivering engineering services. You’ll equip them with the right training and support them in getting their accreditations. Working hand in hand with line managers, you’ll also be responsible for recruitment, performance planning and evaluations, succession planning and pay and reward programs.

Sound like you? To apply you need to be:

Subject Matter Expert

You should have 10 years of relevant experience in engineering or construction services and four years’ experience in the operation of electrical and mechanical services in Tier III and Tier IV data centres.  If you are also a holder of tertiary qualifications in engineering and a professional qualification such as CEng (United Kingdom) PE (United States) or a local equivalent, we want to meet you!

Roll-up-your sleeves attitude

Do you have the skills, passion and aptitude to take on this role? Are you ready and excited to champion business goals and continuous improvement initiatives that empower both our clients and our people? Do you know how to build a diverse team and inclusive culture that brings out the best in everyone? If yes, then this job is for you.

What we can do for you:

At JLL, we make sure that you become the best version of yourself by helping you realise your full potential in an entrepreneurial and inclusive work environment. We will empower your ambitions through our dedicated Total Rewards Program, competitive pay and benefits package.
