Job Description

GM Powertrain Lab, Building Maintenance Assistant

Seeking self-motivated, energetic individuals for the role of Building Maintenance Assistant. Must possess the necessary skill sets required to assist with the maintenance and repairs in order to preserve the physical assets of the Building, Systems, and Equipment under the direction of the Facility and Operations Managers.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Three plus years of facility maintenance strongly preferred. Must have strong written and verbal communication, detail oriented and must have extensive knowledge on Microsoft Excel and Word.

Areas of responsibilities may include:

Manufacturing Process Equipment

  • Fuel Farm Operations, Reporting,
  • Maintenance, and Repair
  • Bulk Fluid Totes & Dispensing Equipment
  • Compressed Bottle Gas Storage & Distribution Systems
  • Compressed Natural Gas Facility
  • Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers
  • Oil Mist Collectors
  • Conditioned Air Units
  • Temperature Control
    • Electric heaters
    • Pressure Control
    • Dew Point Control
    • Steam
    • Chilled Water Coil
  • Provide and Maintain Spare & Replacement Parts Inventories
  • Production Process Central Exhaust Systems
  • Class 7 Clean Room
  • De-ionized water system
  • Air compressors and dryers
  • Steam generators up to 100psi

Mechanical Systems

  • Journeyman assistance may be required during any of the following tasks.
  • HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilating, Air conditioning and Refrigeration)
    • Indoor Air Quality
    • Temperature Control
    • Steam (high and low psi)
  • Scavenge Exhaust Systems
  • Preventative Maintenance (Scheduled maintenance to prevent break down)
  • Predictive Maintenance (Use of equipment or tests to predict when maintenance will be needed)
  • Fuel, Natural Gas & Water Meters (including Calibration)

Power Systems

  • Troubleshooting and/or repair of systems with 50V or higher require Journeyman assistance
  • Normal power to first disconnect
  • Service and maintenance of systems up to 480VAC
  • Trouble shooting low voltage systems
    • 4 – 20mA
    • 1 – 10VDC
  • Emergency power systems
    • Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems
